Doldrums - 100% magic

Much was made about Grant having three young daughters  -  the youngest was 18 months old  -  and the fact that his wife Della was not going to give up her husband without a very public and determined fight.

Prinz, at first glance, appears to be the exact opposite of world-famous Schloss Johannisberg, the region’s most famous winery that’s housed in a Baroque palace next door to a medieval church. However, looks can be deceptive. Schloss Johannisberg is owned by the Oekter family, industrialists famous for their frozen pizzas and pudding powder. From 2005 a young man called Christian Witte who grew up in vineless Hofheim close to Frankfurt (he recently moved on to another position) brought it back from the doldrums to the pinnacle of the region. Even the simplest wines from this estate, the dry and medium-dry versions of the 2016 “Gelblack” Rieslings both rated 92 points and the estate’s 2015 Trockenbeerenauslese cruised to 99 points.

Preheat oven to 180C and grease and line a 24cm springform pan. Beat egg whites with salt until firm peaks form then gradually rain in brown sugar and beat until sugar is dissolved and mixture is glossy. Place figs in a heatproof bowl and pour over boiling water. Allow to stand for a minute then drain and roughly chop, discarding stalks.

We've got a bit of a sports smorgasbord in Orlando now, with two major-league franchises. The Magic's downfall coincides with OCSC's rise. It gives us something to cheer about. Understandably, it's not all pom-poms.

Personally, I think trying to make a mini-D5 with SnapBridge proved to be too big a challenge for Nikon to get done in the timeframe they had available to them. D500 prototypes were really late to show up in the real world—just prior to the launch announcement—and once the camera was announced we had a series of bumps in the road: production delay, battery/card issues, unexplained lockups, and half of the necessary software for SnapBridge missing, for example.

By the end of this week’s installment, Claire has been kidnapped by a crew of redcoats with a mean case of typhoid fever. The ship’s captain is desperate to restore his sailors’ health and decides his best bet is to forcibly keep a surgeon on the vessel.

This was one of my favorite scenes in this section of the book and one of my favorites in this episode, but unfortunately, as sometimes happens, things get cut in the editing process. And this is one that—for no reason other than the show was running long—ended up on the cutting room floor.
